CNN recently posted a video about Nekoglai (Nikolai Lebedev), who was tortured by police because of a TikTok video. A lot of the comments under the video are unbelievably callous. Many if not most are probably from russian trolls or russia sympathizers. Still, it's sad he doesn't have many defenders. Perhaps the trolls were counting on this. People don't care about russian brutality; perhaps they also blame the victim-- for a completely disproportional response. Sometimes evil is evil; cultural relativism excuses such things in the name of tolerance. But beating up someone because of a social media post-- a totally innocuous bit of free speech-- should not be tolerated. - some comments: • russia is a very rigid society with rules and expectations clearly spelled out. So at one point russia actually acknowledged they didn't singlehandedly win against Hitler. And that the West wasn't always the enemy. The same video was posted on a Z channel - https://t.me/c/1833239710/4151 The post text was: "But it used to be like this... Unfortunately, this will never happen again, every creature must answer for the murder of Russian soldiers, and believe me, they will answer." um.... why are people killing russian soldiers? Because they are invading another country! But of course people are supposed to greet invaders with flowers, or else no holds barred on savagery. They "deserve" it because they resisted and didn't understand they were "brothers".
